Who's Buying Green Power?

On the Environmental Protection Agency's Green Power Partnership website they recently listed the largest green power subscribers in the country. Interesting list -- it looks at the largest "green power" subscribers includes Fortune 500 companies, federal entities, local governments and even higher education institutions. I use quotes around green power because renewable energy certificates are included as part of the options (along with on-site green power generation and local utility supplied green power).
The 2008's top listing is Intel, which subscribed to over 1.3 million megawatt-hours of green power -- holy smokes. (And that only covers 47% of their annual energy consumption!) To give you an idea of how much green power that is, it's equiavalent to the entire needs of Teton County for 2 to 3 years! (And their green power needs are supplied not only by wind power, but also through biomass, geothermal and sloar power.)
